Where To Visit
If lounging by the pool or wandering down to the beach isn’t for you there are plenty of places to visit locally.. You can be as lazy or adventurous as you like.
Take a walk along the many paths through the Esterel, a complete circuit of the headland L’Aiguille should take about 1 hour 15 minutes, or cycle to Cannes for breakfast- approximately half an hour cycle. There are a number of good golf courses close to the villa to suit all abilities.
The coast road from La Napoule heading west has the ocean one side and the breathtaking red rock mountains of The Massif de l’Esterel on the other. There are some places to stop with restaurants and bars along the way before you get to the seaside town of Agay.
For a change of pace, take the ferry and explore the beautiful Ile Sainte-Margeurite. The island is famed for its undisturbed beaches, crystal clear waters and ancient woodlands and is the perfect picnic spot. Or take the ferry to St.Honarat where the monks live, spend a morning walking around this beautiful place you could join in the church service and purchase some wine made by the monks from there plentiful vineyards on the island, there is one restaurant on the Island or take a picnic and sit at of the many tables scattered around.
There are many interesting places to visit locally, Nice old town, Cannes, St Tropez with its famous markets and beach restaurants, St Paul de Vence, Grasse, Valbonne or any of the beautiful villages in the area. Italy and Monaco are only an hour by car, or you can visit by train, there is an hourly service from Theoule to Ventimiglia where there is also a good market. The train runs along the coast offering outstanding views. The roads and parking get very busy in the Summer months so head out early if your not using public transport.
Cannes - 5 Miles
Truly on your doorstep - drive or cycle,
The glitz and glamour of Cannes are literally on your doorstep. Stylish cafés and restaurants, casinos and night clubs and luxury designer boutiques. Take a stroll along promenade La Croisette, loved by the rich and famous, with the beach on one side and elegant stores and restaurants on the other. It is the perfect place to enjoy a coffee or a glass of something special.
Try one of the Hillside villages, with the many street markets, soak up the local french atmosphere
Valbonne - 18 Miles 30 minutes
A beautiful old town in a peaceful valley. Wander the tranquil streets, the boutique fashion shops and the antique dealers before taking lunch in Renaissance era Place a Arcades.
Antibes - 18 Miles 30 minutes
With it’s large Marina, you can wander and spend hours looking at the array of super yachts, stroll within the 16th century walled town with its quaint backstreets local shops, restaurants.
Mougins - 11 Miles - 20 minutes
A beautiful hilltop village where Pablo Picasso spend his last few years of life, visit the Classical Art Museum, it’s also home to Europes largest lotus colony, the Fontermerle pond is a must if you visit. As usual plenty of fabulous restaurants -
St.Paul de Vence - 23 Miles - 45 minutes
Our absolute favourite hill top village, and one of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera, home to the famous Colomn D’or restaurant where Pablo Picasso, Jacques Prévert, Yves Montand and James Baldwin traded there painting’s for food, their magnificent works of art are now an integral part of this unique restaurant/hotel. If you plan to visit you will have to book, I suggest you do this immediately you have booked the Villa as in peak season they are fully booked months ahead of time.
If you fancy a full day out why not go slightly further afield to Italy, Monaco or St. Tropez, if you don’t fancy driving you can catch the coastal train or sea ferry.
Monaco - 40 Miles - 1 Hour
The name say’s it all - see the glitz and glamour of the infamous Monaco, walk/drive the GrandPrix track and stop for lunch and a glass of wine outside the famous Casino.
Italy - 52 Miles - 1 Hour
Visit the famous markets in Venitmiglia, selling everything from fresh produce to leather handbags and shoes, Normally open until 2.00pm weekdays and all day on Fridays and Saturdays.
St.Tropez 50 Miles - 1 Hour 20 minutes
Evokes elegance and luxury where spotting celebs is easy, one of the most famous resorts in Europe. Have lunch on Pampalon Beach or in the town itself, the choice is yours and you will not be disappointed.
